Film

Tropic Thunder

So, the Wife, the Sister and I went to see Tropic Thunder last night at the Studio Movie Grill. In addition to the wonderful buffalo tenders, the movie just rocked.

We have been quoting the bloody thing ever since we walked out. My god, Robert Downey, Jr. is quickly becoming my favorite actor. The whole cast was hilarious. When Jack Black’s character gets tied to the tree, I thought I was going to hurt myself laughing at his blatant attempts to have someone set him free. Don’t take the young ones, folks…you have bee forewarned!

I don’t get all the hullabaloo about the use of the word “retard” in the film, either, as it is beyond any doubt that every word in the film is nothing but pure parody and satire. In truth the word, these days, is used less to refer to the mentally handicapped as it is to describe someone who simply does or says something stupid. So, let’s not get all up in arms, let’s just change the fricking meaning of the word. I mean, welcome to the English language, you dolts!

I know one thing for certain: I will most definitely own this film when it hits DVD. I haven’t laughed that much at a film since “Superbad”. ‘Nuff said.
